Holiday Bad Movie Screening: Santa Claus vs. The Devil (1959)
Free holiday bad movie screening at the Rockland Public Library
The Rockland Public Library presents a film screening of Santa Claus, aka Santa Claus vs. the Devil, Thursday, December 22, at 6:00 p.m., in the library’s Community Room and via Zoom. This event is free and open to all and is recommended for adults and teens.
Join us for a free screening of a terrible holiday cult classic! This 1959 Mexican fantasy film, directed by Rene Cardona and dubbed in English under the direction of Ken Smith, features Santa and Merlin battling a demon named Pitch to save Christmas. Did you know that the episode of the comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 featuring this film originated the phrase “nightmare fuel”? (Thanks, Crow T. Robot!)
For those joining us in-person, “talking back” to the film à la MST3K is encouraged!
This event will be held in-person at the Rockland Public Library, located at 80 Union Street, and simultaneously screened over Zoom. For more information or to request Zoom links, please email elewis@rocklandmaine.gov by 4 p.m. on December 22 and include the title of the film in the subject line.
