Quantum Flora: Interactive Exhibition Artist Talks and Opening Reception
Please join the Bates Arts Collaborative and IMPACT21st (Innovation, Media, Process, Arts, Collaboration and Technology for the 21st Century) in celebrating the opening of Quantum Flora created by Maine artists Cindy Thompson and James LaPlante. Both artists will be present to give an artist talk in the Olin Arts Center (75 Russell Street) at 5:00 PM, after which a reception will be held in Coram Library (42 Campus Avenue), where the exhibition is staged in the new Immersive Media Studio. They will talk about the frontiers of Immersive Art and the persistent quest to be fully consumed by art. The exhibit will be on view in the IMStudio from May 9 to 23.
Quantum Flora is an exploration of the science of nuclear physics at the quantum scale through interaction with a large sculptural form using interactive projected generative art and musical elements. It's an immersive sculptural experience that must be seen to be believed!
