Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at a clinic in Limington recently.

MaineHealth Care at Home has begun vaccinating homebound patients against COVID-19.

Two field nurses recently administered the vaccine to 10 patients in the Biddeford-Saco area who are eligible for the vaccine but are unable to get to a clinic due to mobility or independence issues.

MaineHealth Care at Home officials say they expect to vaccinate hundreds of these patients over the next several weeks, as long as doses are available. Patients are being notified directly.

Northern Light Home Care and Hospice has also begun vaccinating homebound patients. They're working with other providers and state agencies to reach patients not under their care. Last week, it administered about 100 doses in Aroostook County.
