Maine's Redneck Games Kick Off Thursday

HEBRON, Maine — It's time for rednecks to start their blanking games in Maine.

The fourth annual event in Hebron, Maine, originally launched as the Redneck Olympics. But it's now called the "Redneck (Blank)" after the real Olympics threatened to sue.

There's no confusing the two.

The real Olympics features pomp and circumstance and world-class athletes. The redneck games features a mud run, toilet seat horseshoes and greased watermelon race.

Organizer Harold Brooks said he expects several thousand people to join the event that runs through the weekend. He says being a redneck has nothing to do with income, job description, or origin, but is more about fun and friendship.
