BANGOR, Maine — A teacher at a private Maine high school who had been the subject of a child pornography investigation has been found dead in a hotel room over the weekend.
Officials at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor confirm that 35-year-old social sciences teacher Jeremiah Gorman was found dead on Saturday following searches of his home and classroom on Friday.
Head of School Mel MacKay expressed "shock and distress" in a message to the school community but said student safety is a top priority.
He said school will begin Monday with an assembly for all students, faculty and staff. Counseling services will be available.
Police would only say that the investigation is ongoing.
