PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ Maine's largest city will hold a public forum in March so residents can provide input and learn about potential designers for Congress Square Park.
Portland officials say they have released two requests for qualifications to hire a design team and an artist to draw up designs for the park. The city is collecting responses to the requests for qualifications through Jan. 28.
Congress Square Park is in the city's arts district. The half-acre plaza was the subject of a hotly debated public referendum in 2014, in which voters decided to protect it. The city had wanted to sell most of it to a hotel owner.
