Arrest Made in Connection With Christmas Day Double Homicide

AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine state police have arrested a New York man in the killings of an Augusta couple who were found shot to death early on Christmas Day.

Officials say 29-year-old David Marble Jr. of Rochester, New York, was arrested Tuesday when police stopped a car in which he was a passenger in Augusta.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says Marble was charged with murder in the deaths of Eric Williams and Bonnie Royer, who were shot inside an SUV in Manchester, Maine. McCausland said the killings were drug related, but declined further comment.

Marble, who'd been living in an apartment in Augusta, was booked into the Kennebec County Jail and was expected to be in court Wednesday or Thursday. It was unclear if he had a lawyer.

A vigil is scheduled for the victims on Friday night at their home from 7 pm to 9 pm.
