PORTLAND, Maine — Officials in Portland say they have received more than 100 submissions in response to the city’s request for redesign ideas for Congress Square Park.
Portland sent out two calls for qualifications about the park redesign project. Officials say selection committees will review the applicants and finalists will be invited to a public forum to present their work.
Congress Square Park is in the city’s arts district. The half-acre plaza was the subject of a public referendum in 2014 in which voters chose to protect it. The city had wanted to sell most of it to a hotel owner.
The public forum is scheduled for May.
