PORTLAND, Maine — A 19th century clock tower in Portland is ticking again after nearly 20 years.
The clock tower is located at the top of the Odd Fellows Building in the Woodfords Corner area of the Maine city.
The Portland Press Herald reports the clock’s motor has been repaired and the faces of the clock have been restored and repainted. The clock tower also lights up at night.
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows service organization took the lead in the project. The project cost about $60,000 and was funded with money the group made by cashing stocks.
The clock has four faces pointing in different directions and sits atop a brick tower that is about 90 feet tall.
