Bellows Finishing 350-Mile Walk Across Maine

KITTERY, Maine — Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Shenna Bellows is concluding her 350-mile trek across Maine.

The former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Maine will celebrate the end of a journey that took more than three weeks with events Tuesday in Portland and Kittery. Bellows began her "Walk with Maine for Jobs and the Economy" last month in Houlton.

She has used the trek to introduce herself to voters as she seeks to defeat incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins this November.

Bellows follows in the footsteps of other candidates, like William Cohen, who have competed treks across Maine. Cohen walked 600 miles across the 2nd Congressional District when he ran for the seat in the 1972 before becoming Secretary of Defense.
