Cutler Gets Boost, But Michaud Keeps Money Lead

By AlannaDurkin, The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud continues to lead the pack in fundraising and in cash on hand.

Michaud raised more than $430,000 in the latest reporting period and has more than $1 million in his war chest as the three-way race for governor enters its final weeks. Michaud has raised more than $2.4 million since launching his campaign.

Eliot Cutler brought in about $419,000 during the two-month reporting period and gave another $100,000 loan to his campaign. His campaign was given a boost thanks to a rule change that allowed about 200 of his previously maxed-out donors to give more this period.

Republican Gov. Paul LePage's campaign says it raised about $400,000 and has almost $1 million left in the period that covered July 16 through Sept. 16.
