AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine has a new director for its Center for Disease Control.
Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew said Tuesday that Ken Albert will take over for Sheila Pinette as director and chief operating officer of Maine CDC. Albert has been serving as head of the Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services for DHHS.
Mayhew says that the office is "headed in an exciting new direction'' under Albert.
Pinette will become chief health officer for the health department. In that role, she will focus on public health concerns like drug-affected newborns and infant mortality.
