Democrats and Independents Seek Support to Impeach Gov. LePage

AUGUSTA, Maine — An impeachment order against Gov. Paul LePage could hit the floor of the House this week when a small group of Democrats and independents call for a special panel to investigate several alleged abuses.House Republican leaders complained today, that Democrats seemed to be moving forward with impeachment orders that they are not sharing with Republicans.

GOP House Leader Ken Fredette warned his fellow legislators, against taking actions to remove Gov. Paul LePage from office.

Democratic House Leader Jeff McCabe said while his office was not involved with those orders, he did find the Republican response interesting.

The impeachment effort was triggered by LePage's role in the the decision by the Good Will-Hinckley School to fire Democratic House Speaker Mark Eves as its president; but the orders will include other alleged abuses by the governor.
