Maine Native Tribes to Receive Funds for Climate Change

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Senators Susan Collins and Angus King say the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point and the Aroostook Band of Micmacs have been awarded more than $237,000 to plan for climate change.

They say the money will be used by the tribes to address climate change, helping with planning, training and participation in technical workshops and forums.

The Passamaquoddies will receive $214,000 while the Micmacs will receive $23,000. The grant, from U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, is part of the Landscape Conservation Program.
