Maine's COVID-19 case load grew to 4,903 overnight, a net increase of 40 since Sunday. The death toll remained unchanged, at 136.That's according to new figures the Maine Center for Disease Control posted Monday. They indicate that 4,226 Mainers have recovered from the virus, leaving 530 active cases that the state is tracking, a jump of 29 overnight.
The net increase of 40 represents newly diagnosed cases, minus previously diagnosed cases that later turned out to be negative.
State health officials are currently investigating several outbreaks in York County, at least one of which is tied to an August 7 wedding and reception in Millinocket that state health officials say is now linked to more than 160 cases of COVID-19 and five deaths. Many of those deaths occurred at the Maplecrest rehab facility in Somerset County, where state health officials are investigating an outbreak that's also been linked to the Millinocket event.
The Maine CDC's next coronavirus briefing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 15.
