Adam Umbach Brings Bold, Joyful Paintings To Camden In New Exhibition
On Thursday, August 21, Carver Hill Gallery in Camden, Maine, will open a group show featuring the dynamic works of artist Adam Umbach. A reception with the artist will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The gallery will also feature work by Italian born artist Giacomo Piussi and Cape Cod/Maine artist Traci- Harmon-Hay, who will also be present.
His exhibition titled “On the Bright Track,” features subject matter and personal connections from Umbach’s time living and working along the coasts of Maine and New York. Deeply influenced by his surroundings, Umbach’s work typically features an isolated subject realistically rendered in oil contrasted by playful, scribbly elements created using his non-dominant hand; boats, bees, lobsters, and lighthouses are featured prominently. This technique brings a sense of levity and spontaneity to the work. Umbach is truly a colorist and the sparseness of his compositions on his saturated backgrounds blend beautifully with the mark marking accents in oil-stick that finish each piece.
Adam Umbach’s bold colors and expressive brushwork make “On the Bright Track” celebration of perseverance, joy, and shared experiences.
