This talented drummer used to tour for jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal and keeps a consistent schedule playing around southern Maine with friends.

David Pike Bowler ("Dave") was born in Portland, Maine in 1957. From 1983 onwards, he continued his musical career in New York City, initially with engagements in various jazz, rock, pop, funk and rhythm & blues bands before becoming a member of the Ahmad Jamal Trio, with whom he went on several world tours between 1987 and 1993.Dave recorded several CDs with Jamal, including Crystal, Pittsburgh, Live at Town Hall and Live in Paris 92. His unforgettable performances in New York include Jamal Live with the Jazz Crusaders, with Roy Haynes and the Philipp Morris Allstars. During this time, Dave also appeared on US TV shows, alongside guests such as George Duke and Stanley Clarke, and met some of the great jazz legends such as Kenny Burrell, Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie, and Stephane Grappelli. Legendary drummer Vernel Fournier, a founding member of the Ahmad Jamal Trio, became his teacher and friend. After 1995, Dave toured Europe with artists such as Lynda Hopkins, Cynthia Utterbach, Joan Faulkner, and Veronica Martell, and worked with New York pianist Reggie Moore, Italian guitar virtuoso Augusto Mancinelli, and German pianist Gottfried Böttger.Since 1999, Dave has lived most of the year in Hamburg. He is a permanent member of Addi Münster's Old Merrytale Jazz Band.
