FILM PROGRAM
THE CORPS
A group of young adults working fro the Student Conservation Association Idaho Corps, work together to complete projects around Idaho's public lands. As they work, they learn more about themselves and what it takes to conserve the places we hold close, gaining valuable skills along the way.
A SCHOOL OF TROUT
A School of Trout is the heartwarming and charming story of the next generation of stewards of the earth, nurturing and attempting to release baby trout from their public school into the river. The film provides a genuine look at the experience of these young fourth graders as they discover the ecosystems around them and engage in their unique school.
YOUR LAST BEST: A MEMPHIS ROX STORY
Hope comes to a South Memphis neighborhood that has struggled with basic resources. It takes the unlikely form of a climbing gym, where Jarmond Johnson and others experience different outcomes on the wall.
TENDING THE TIDES
Maine hosts the nation’s first registered Seaweed and Shellfish Aquaculture Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship programs. Tending the Tides follows young participants as they build careers on the water. Through hands-on training and mentorship, these future sea farmers gain skills to thrive in Maine’s growing aquaculture industry—while helping sustain the state’s working waterfronts.
Panelists:
Samantha Andrews - Teens to Trails
Sam is Teens to Trails’ Outdoor Program Manager. After four years of working as a ski instructor, wilderness and sea kayak guide, Sam came to Teens to Trails with hopes to inspire new, exciting adventures, sustain outdoor clubs with the tools they need to thrive, and make positive connections with students. She is a Certified Maine Sea Kayak and Recreational Guide, EMT, WFR, and Leave No Trace Master Educator.
Kat Lipp - Maine Aquaculture Association
Kat’s diverse career in the seafood industry includes NMFS groundfish observer in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska, direct-to-consumer seafood sales with Salmon Sisters, set netting for sockeye salmon in Cook Inlet and recently graduated as an Aquaculture Apprenticeship at Mere Point Oyster Co.
