Oct 16 Thursday
River Roads Artisan Gallery Invites you to explore the art of ceramicist Tim Cichocki at the upcoming Third Thursday Art Party October 16, from 4-6 P.M., at the Gallery, 75 Water St, in downtown Skowhegan. This final-for-the-year Third Thursday event promises to be exciting and illuminating. Come meet Tim, enjoy beverages and snacks, and learn about his artistic journey into wood fired pottery.
"I am a Ceramic Artist living and working in Maine,” Tim explains. “In 2006 my father John Cichocki and I constructed a one hundred and eighty cubic foot cross draft wood fired Kiln. This ' groundhog' Kiln is based on southern style Kilns of North America and is the only one of its kind in Maine. Wood firing lends itself to the creation of a natural ash glaze,” Tim continues, “which is achieved at extremely hot temperatures over several days. In a atmospheric firing such as the wood kiln, pieces receive firebox effects from the clay reacting to its atmosphere, rich with salts and other minerals from the wood. Duration of flame passing through the ware creates directional flame patterns. Each fired piece will be unique because of the placement and interaction with other pieces in the kiln."
Third Thursday Art Party attendees will be able to hear Tim speak of his unique process and pose questions, while enjoying delicious snacks and beverages. All public is warmly invited to attend, 4-6 pm, October 16, 2025. Please bring a friend, we’re excited to see you there.
