Learn the wonderful game of Mah Jongg! Join master player and instructor Judi Slotsky for this 6-session, beginner-level course, which meets Tuesday mornings from 9:00-11:00 PM, starting on March 24th.
Classes meet March 24 - April 28.
Tuition: $48 – JCA Members | $60 – General Public
Advanced registration required by Friday, March 13th.
Limited to 12 students. Minimum of 4 students required to hold the course.

Enhance strength, balance and body awareness in this classical Pilates series at the JCA. Led by classically trained and certified instructor Becca Asen, each session focuses on mindful and controlled movements and proper alignment. Rooted in Joseph Pilates’ six core principles — centering, control, concentration, flow, breath, and precision — this method offers benefits for all bodies and abilities.
Participants are welcome to attend any number of classes in the series. Yoga mats will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own. No prior experience is necessary; all abilities are welcome, ages 13+. Class punch cards are available for purchase at the front desk. With a punch card, you buy 10 classes and get the 11th class for free! Punch cards never expire and may be redeemed for any class with Becca Asen at the JCA.
General public - $15 per class | JCA members - $12 per class.

Owlbear’s Rest is usually an escape from adulting for grown-ups—except on Sunday mornings! Bring the whole crew for a game-filled adventure that’s perfect for adventurers of any age. Your little halflings can enjoy a warm steamer while you sip on a well-earned latte (oat milk available!).

April 12 at 3 PMSara Oeste on Japanese KotoIn April, we shift to 3 PM concert starts, and feature our own Church Musician and Choir Director, Sara Oeste, presenting a concert with a unique international flavor. The delicate sounds of the Japanese Koto will fill the hall. A traditional Japanese 13 string instrument, the Koto has enchanted audiences around the world for centuries. Sarah will offer both Japanese Koto compositions and some modern variations to Newcastle, in this unique musical genre. For a special musical experience, come join us for this performance.

Come try out water polo with Southern Maine Water Polo! We are a club that welcomes all newcomers. The only requirement for the sport is that you are an experienced swimmer. We will help to teach the fundamentals of the sport throughout practice. Expect a fantastic workout while playing this fun sport! Make sure to check out our website for any changes to our schedule. We do not practice on holiday weekends.
Scottish Country Dance is the ballroom dance of Scotland, done in longwise sets of several couples. We meet weekly to learn and enjoy the dances. All dances are taught. We recommend soft soled, flexible shoes. Bring a water bottle. There is a beginner/preview session at 5 p.m. by request. Note, we do not dance during the month of December.
