May 10 Friday
OneBeat, one of the most exciting music presentations of the year, is coming to the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath on May 10th.
25 musicians from 19 countries will gather on the center's Main Stage for an exhilarating musical escapade.
The event is a celebration of unity, diversity, and the transformative power of music. The soul-stirring folk melodies of Saudi Arabia, the explosive sounds of Nairobi, the mesmerizing melodies of the Japanese Sho, and the infectious samba rhythms of Buenos Aires will all be featured in this unforgettable evening of exploration and connection.
OneBeat program was launched in 2012 by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program invites young musicians to apply for free 30-day fellowships to develop and rehearse original music, followed by a 14-day tour. Once the tour is complete, OneBeat musicians return to their home countries and develop projects linked to music-driven social enterprises that are designed to make a positive impact on local communities.
Join OneBeat at the gazebo in Library Park on May 10th at noon for a little sampling of the incredible performances happening in the evening!

With a career spanning over two decades, Hanneke Cassel has helped redefine what it means to be a modern fiddler. A driving force in the ever-changing landscape of acoustic music, Hanneke blends originality and innovation with the spirit of Scottish traditional fiddle. Fusing musical roots from the Isle of Skye and Cape Breton Island with Americana stylings, Hanneke’s playing has been described by the Boston Globe as “exuberant and rhythmic, somehow wild and innocent, delivered with captivating melodic clarity and an irresistible playfulness.” Beyond the strings of her fiddle, it is Hanneke’s hugely generous presence and passion that round out her magnetism as a performer on the world stage of fiddle music. Appearing with Jenna Moynihan and Keith Murphy.
