Lewiston Couple Arrested After Makings of Meth Lab Found

LEWISTON, Maine - A Lewiston couple is facing drug trafficking charges after Maine drug agents found the makings of a methamphetamine lab Monday inside their Pond Road apartment.

State officials say Ethel Hallick, 51, and Mark Theriault, 45, have been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. State drug agents say evidence of meth manufacturing was found on the first floor of the apartment the couple live in at 212 Pond Road, as well as in the basement of the two-unit building.

Authorities say the couple has been under investigation for several weeks. When a search warrant was served Monday evening, seven people were in the building, including three children under the age of 14.

The building was evacuated, along with residents of the second-floor apartment who were not involved in the meth investigation.

The raid was conducted with the assistance of the Lewiston police and fire departments, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
