BANGOR, Maine - A Maine man has pleaded guilty to robbing a bank, in which he handed an employee a note saying he had a hand grenade and a gun, and would return and "kill all of you'' if he received marked bills.
John Slater of Gardiner pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Bangor.
Court records say he robbed $15,000 from the Bank of Maine in Hallowell on June 23 after handing over the note. Four days later, police executed search warrants at two locations where Slater had been living. On July 9, he was arrested in New Hampshire.
Slater faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and mandatory restitution.
