Two Waterville Women Charged in Stabbing of Another Woman

WATERVILLE, Maine - Two Waterville women have been charged with aggravated attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of another woman earlier this month in the town of China.

Carrisa Butkewicz, 23, and Tiffany Glidden, 20, are due to make a court appearance today on the charges, connected with the stabbing of 24-year-old Katherine Hopkins on Nov. 4.

Authorities say Hopkins was stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife while sitting in her car on Fire Road 17, off the Neck Road. Hopkins had gone there after Butkewicz and Glidden sent her a text message asking her to meet them there, officials say.

After being stabbed, Hopkins drove a short distance and got medical help from a nearby resident until an ambulance arrived.

Her condition has improved since the incident occurred, according to authorities.
