FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine - Officials say that a Florida man has been charged with felony drug trafficking in a Canadian border town in Aroostook County.
The Fort Fairfield Police Department and Main Drug Enforcement Agency said Friday that 37-year-old Ignacio Roque was arrested Thursday after they found over 2 ounces of bulk, unpackaged heroin worth more than $20,000 after searching his apartment.
Officials say Roque has lived in Fort Fairfield since he was released from a Miami prison in February and was wanted on an arrest warrant in Florida for parole violations. They say he has an extensive criminal history, including previous drug offenses.
Roque is being held at Aroostook County jail. He's expected to make his first court appearance on Friday.
