Police identify two killed in Lewiston shooting Sunday

Maine State Police are investigating the deaths of two people in a Lewiston shooting over the weekend.

Mohammed Sheik of Auburn and Keyt Hussein of Lewiston died from gunshot wounds Sunday. Both deaths are considered homicides.

No arrests have been made, but police say the investigation is ongoing.

Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline said in a statement that the shooting has shaken the community, and that the city must, quote, take immediate measures to keep people safe.

Lewiston police responded to a shooting complaint on Knox Street Sunday morning. One person died at the scene, and a second person died after being taken to Central Maine Medical Center.

The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident, and police say there is no threat to the public.
