Bangor Approves $8,600 Solar Array Study

BANGOR, Maine - Officials in Bangor, Maine, have approved an $8,600 study to determine how much it would cost to install and operate solar projects on city buildings. The Bangor Daily News reports the Bangor City Council's finance committee accepted the bid from ReVision Energy Inc. Monday night. The Maine-based firm will evaluate solar installations and potential savings on rooftops, carports and the ground in a 19-day study.

Officials had previously discussed ways to lower the city's carbon footprint. City Manager Catherine Conlow says some of the land in Bangor isn't suitable for building, but could be used for solar arrays.

ReVision Energy's bid was the lowest offer. Bangor Finance Director Debbie Cyr says the project will be funded with money that had already been budgeted.
