Seal Pup Found Stranded On Maine Beach Makes Speedy Recovery

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. - A harbor seal pup found sick on a Maine beach last week has made a speedy recovery. The Boston Globe reports the pup has been transferred to a rehabilitation center in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, for further treatment.

The Marine Mammals of Maine says the seal pup was just three days old when he was discovered by two people on a beach near Scarborough, Maine, on May 6.

The pup was suffering from a respiratory infection, elevated kidney levels, lethargy, and dehydration when he was found stranded on the beach. He was taken to the National Marine Life Center in Buzzards Bay on Tuesday.
