Flu continues to surge in Maine, with cases nearly doubling over the past two weeks.
The state Center for Disease Control says it recorded 1,900 cases in the week ending February 8, for a total of more than 6,900 cases this season.
And the number of hospitalizations nearly doubled over the past week to 131.
The agency says flu severity is highest in Hancock and Piscataquis Counties.
