SMCC and Husson University Ink Transfer Agreement

Jennifer Rooks

Leaders at Southern Maine Community College and Husson University today signed an agreement that will make it easier for students in several degree programs to transfer credits, and eventually earn a bachelor's degree or MBA.

The agreement applies to students majoring in Business Administration, Sports Management, Computer Science, Computer Technology, Criminal Justice and Hospitality Management.

"I think these are all really growth areas that students will find employment in Southern Maine," says Janet Sorter, Dean of Academic Affairs at SMCC.  "They'll be able to stay in the state, which is an important part of our mission as a community college, and working together is how we do this, how we make these opportunities, and build these pathways for students."

SMCC and Husson have long had a transfer program for students studying criminal justice.  This new agreement expands the offerings a great deal.  Husson University opened a Southern Maine campus in Westbrook this past January.
