2 Maine Horses Back In Their Stalls After Storm Escape

WELLS, Maine — Two horses that disappeared after a storm knocked down a fence on the Wells farm where they were stabled are home and apparently none the worse for spending a frigid night in the deep snow in the Maine woods.

The horses, named Spot and Bailey, escaped from Canticle Farm on Sunday.

Canticle farm boarder Katy Wormwood says they were found about 10:45 a.m. Monday about a mile and a half from the farm.

Wormwood says people started looking for the horses on Sunday shortly after they escaped. The search resumed Monday morning.

Wormwood says the outpouring of public support in helping to find the horses was incredible.

A veterinarian examined Spot and Bailey after they were caught and could find nothing wrong with either.
