This week’s lineup

Mon 1/12 HUMAN TRAFFICKING
News coverage of the Epstein files brings forward yet again the issue of human—and child—trafficking. But experts say it is a crime still widely misunderstood. We'll learn who is vulnerable to sexual and labor exploitation, how to be aware and help when possible, and what Maine organizations are doing to help trafficking survivors.

Tue 1/13 MAINE TURNPIKE
The Maine Turnpike is the busiest road in Maine—more than 95 million vehicles traveled on it last year. It's also a dangerous place for work crews: A recent report shows that 88 percent of drivers speed through work zones. The new director of the Maine Turnpike Authority, Andre Briere, joins us to discuss his plan to slow people down, new initiatives on the Turnpike, and his background as a U.S. Air Force Colonel who served as defense attaché to Moscow.

Wed 1/14 PUBLIC HEALTH UPDATE
A dramatic surge in flu cases is sweeping the nation, and Maine is among the states with “very high” flu activity. We find out what can be done to prevent or treat this highly contagious “super flu.” Our panel of public health leaders also discuss record numbers of tick-borne disease, as well as controversial federal guidelines on vaccinations, diet, alcohol consumption and more.

Thu 1/15 CONGRESSWOMAN CHELLIE PINGREE
Maine's First Congressional District Representative Chellie Pingree joins us to discuss the latest news from Washington, DC.

Fri 1/16 CLIMATE COMMUNICATION
You likely know meteorologist Keith Carson from NewsCenter Maine or The Weather Channel. Carson recently stepped away from a long career in meteorological forecasting to focus on climate communication at Maine Conservation Voters. He’ll discuss the intersection of weather forecasting and a changing climate, as well as what he sees as fundamental problems with climate messaging.
