In April, Waterville Creates hosted the Maine Art Educators Association Spring 2025 Conference. This gathering of art educators across the state explored the intersections of the visual arts and nature, play and technology, with a variety of practical workshops and talks on topics like Crankie Making, Tetrapak Drypoint Printing, AI in the Classroom and Laser Cutting for Clay.
Director of Library Services at Kennebec Valley Community College, Stephen LaRochelle led the 3D Printing for Art Educators Workshop at the Conference and sat down with Heather McDougall to demystify 3D printing which is becoming increasingly integrated into Maine classrooms and to explain some of the fascinating objects students are creating with it, as well as some of the pitfalls associated with the technology.
