Maine Among States in $3.8M Sirius XM Settlement

PORTLAND, Maine — Maine is among 44 states to announce that satellite radio company Sirius XM Radio Inc. of New York is agreeing to pay $3.8 million and provide restitution to customers.

Maine Attorney General Janet T. Mills says the settlement is to resolve claims that the company engaged in misleading advertising and billing practices. Mills says the company is agreeing to clearly disclose all terms and conditions at the point of sale.

Sirius XM will pay the money to the 44 states and the District of Columbia. It will also provide restitution to eligible customers who have complaints about the problems that led to the settlement. Maine consumers who have a complaint should contact the company by May 3.

Officials say Maine's portion of the settlement is $15,000.
