Maine Heating Prices Climb up After Weeks of Decline

PORTLAND, Maine - A Maine government survey says the average statewide cash price for heating oil climbed 4 cents in the past two weeks after several weeks of declining.

The Governor's Energy Office says the average price was $2.60 a gallon, according to the Feb. 9 survey. The average kerosene price of $3.14 was also 2 cents higher than two weeks ago. Propane prices rose 2 cents over the past two weeks to $2.68.

Heating oil averaged $3.88 per gallon a year ago at this time, while kerosene was $4.30 and propane was $3.51.

The highest prices for heating oil were found in southwestern Maine, where prices reached $2.99. The lowest prices were also found there and in western Maine at $2.35. Central Maine had the highest average price for kerosene at $3.18.
