Heating Prices Fall in Maine as Snow Begins to Melt

PORTLAND, Maine - A Maine government survey says the average statewide cash price for heating oil fell 5 cents in the past week.

The Governor's Energy Office says the average price was $2.81 a gallon, down from $2.86 the previous week, according to the March 9 survey.

The average kerosene price of $3.36 was a penny less than a week ago. Propane prices also fell 1 cent to $2.71.

The highest price for heating oil in the state was $3.09 while the lowest price was $2.50.

Southwestern Maine had the highest average price for kerosene at $3.45, while the average propane price topped out at $2.73 in northern Maine.
