PORTLAND, Maine — Two Maine breweries have made the list of Top 50 craft breweries based on volume produced.
Portland-based Shipyard came in at No. 25 and Allagash Brewing Co. at 42 on the list released Tuesday by the Brewers Association, the trade group representing small and independent craft brewers. The only other northern New England brewery to make the list was Long Trail Brewing Co. in Vermont, which came in at No. 30.
The top three were Pennsylvania-based D.G. Yuengling, Boston Beer Co. and California-based Sierra Nevada.
The craft beer industry continues to grow. The Brewers Association announced this month that craft beers account for one of every 10 beers consumed in America.
