36th Eastport Salmon and Seafood Festival
36th Eastport Salmon and Seafood Festival
Now celebrating 36 years, Eastport Maine celebrates the end of summer with a salmon and seafood festival, Labor Day weekend, Aug 31-Sept 1. Paying homage to our delicious local resources, Seafood Saturday features crab rolls, lobster rolls, seafood baskets, fish and chips and smoked salmon tastings. Salmon Sunday features our traditional community barbeque with Atlantic salmon, raised in the cold waters of the Passamaquoddy Bay and accompanied by Raye's Winter Garden mustard sauce, roasted potatoes, peas and a wild blueberry dessert. Enjoy wine, spirits and local craft beers on tap by Horn Run Brewing. We eat together under the big tent with friends, neighbors and visitors, gazing at the breathtaking view of the bay just a few feet away as we enjoy live music by regional musicians.
Come for the delicious seafood, but also take in the craft fair, featuring regional and Maine produced wares along Water St. both days. Moose Island Marine will host the George S. Harris Memorial Fishing Derby for Youth at the Breakwater on Saturday at 10am. Also on Saturday, free, all-ages art activities will be available at Overlook Park, as well as tours of the Coast Guard Station and lobster pound tours at Lighthouse Lobster at the end of County Road.
The highlight of Sunday is the return of the Home and Garden Tour, featuring 6 homes and Seaman's Church on Middle St. The owners of these charming residences have a deeply personal and profound love for the place they call home. They will be your tour hosts throughout the day. Get to know them and discover what makes their home and its place in Eastport so special. If you have been following the progress of the Issac Hobbs Mansion restoration, this is your opportunity to tour the home with owner James Polowitz.
