In celebration of the coming of cooler days, shop local and Maine arts, crafts, and antiques vendors on the grounds of the Outdoor Heritage Museum in Oquossoc! Don't miss touring the Outdoor Heritage Museum and visiting the Museum Store as well.
The Lewiston Public Library will be offering drop-in Preschool Playdates from 10:30am-12:30pm on Saturdays* in the Children’s program room.*(The Library will be closed on Saturday, 8/30 in observance of Labor Day & Saturday, 11/29 in observance of Thanksgiving.)
Drop-in and join us for Preschool Playdates! Preschoolers and their families are invited to stop in during our Preschool Playdates to engage in imaginative play and build friendships. A variety of toys, games, and crafts will be available during all sessions.
The programs will take place in the Children’s Program Room on the 3rd floor.
The programs are free and there is no registration required. All families with children between the ages of 2-6 are welcome to attend. Siblings are also welcome.

Richard Boyd Art Gallery opens September with a group exhibition of paintings and sculptures in a range of styles created by a group of national and internationally renowned visual artists with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and styles.
The exhibit is comprised of a magnificent selection of fine art that offers viewers a visual narrative of feelings expressed in color, depth, detail, and texture. From the calming beauty of a foggy landscape to the immersive experience of a surrealistic dreamscape, art takes viewers on a personal journey of exploration. Art is an international language we all understand, offering viewers adventure and discovery.
The exhibition presents an exceptional collection of paintings and sculptures created from the soul of the artist. Each work is a well-rendered expression of emotion, passion, and feelings. The exhibit includes works by Deena S. Ball, Tim Eaton, Patricia Chandler, Randy Eckard, Richard H. Eyster, Laura Freeman, Jane Herbert, and HM Saffer II.

Rebecca Hayes ‘From Maine With Love’New Paintings Inspired by Vintage Scenes
Through her stunning photo-realistic paintings, artist Rebecca Hayes takes us on a journey through Greater Portland history finding forgotten moments and cherished memories. In collaboration with historian Paul Ledman, author of “Walking Through History: Portland, Maine on Foot” and “Portland, Maine: Connections Across Time”, Hayes has brought her sharp brush work and eye for color to iconic locations including Harbor Fish Market, Red’s Dairy Freeze, and Congress Square. Each painting will be accompanied by text from Ledman for historical context. Additional paintings of contemporary paintings of Greater Portland will be on view in the gallery.
Rebecca Hayes is an artist based in Portland, Maine. She grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Opening Reception: Thursday August 8th, 5-7pm
The South Portland Historical Society is hosting six of our favorite food trucks at Bug Light Park for the first annual Bug Light Food Truck Festival. The trucks will set up in the park next to our museum, the Cushing's Point Museum. We will also have live music on the museum porch. The event is sponsored by GoNetSpeed.
ECMI Instrument Petting Zoo at Northeast Harbor Library
Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) offers its next Instrument Petting Zoo from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on September 20, 2025. This event is free to the public and is held at the Northeast Harbor Library at 1 Joy Road in Northeast Harbor, Maine. No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Internationally-acclaimed Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band brings passion, virtuosity, and contagious energy to every performance. The Wheels improvise with the intimacy of chamber music and the intensity of a rowdy dance band. Their engaging contemporary interpretation of Jewish music is irresistible to audiences ranging from elementary school students to the judges at the International Jewish Music Festival, who heralded them as “a true musical democracy.”
They will give a concert at Bowdoin and then be joined by the Maine-based Casco Bay Tummlers in a Klezmer Jam. Players of any instrument and ability are welcome, as are singers, dancers and listeners.
Guests will enjoy the freshest Allagash White while walking through our world-class brewery. We'll finish the tour with three samples of featured releases.
