Maine Police Reconvene Search in 35-Year-Old Joyce McLain Killing

EAST MILLINOCKET, Maine — Maine state police say they returned to East Millinocket to conduct a search related to the 35-year-old case of the killing of a teenager.

Sixteen-year-old Joyce McLain disappeared while jogging in August 1980 in the case of a brutal killing that has vexed investigators for years. Police say the search on Tuesday was centered along power lines near a local high school. They also searched the area on Oct. 1.

Police say they aren't releasing any details of what they were looking for or whether anything was found. They say searchers were in the area for several hours and left in the late afternoon. They informed McLain's mother Pam of the search after it had been concluded for the day.
