Two More Maine Prisoners Test Positive For COVID-19

The Maine Department of Corrections is confirming that two more prisoners have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham, bringing the number of prisoners who have tested positive at the facility to four.

In a press release, the DOC says the two prisoners are both men. One is in his 60s and one is in his 40s. Both have been moved to an isolation unit. None of the four has required hospitalization.

To date, 744 prisoners, staff and contracted vendors have been tested following the first confirmed case of a prisoner earlier this week. All the results are now back.

The department says it is working with the Maine CDC to undertake certain protocols, including restricted movement at the facility and contact tracing to determine how the virus may have spread.

According to the press release, retesting will be considered in the coming days.
