PLEASANT POINT, Maine (AP) _ The former finance director of tribal reservation in Maine has been arrested on charges of stealing more than $20,000 from the Passamaquoddy tribe.

Charles Fourcloud was arrested Friday in northern California.

The Portland Press Herald reported that Fourcloud was fired last year as the one-time finance director of the tribe's Pleasant Point reservation near Eastport for lying about his identity.

It turned out his real name was Arlynn Knudsen, and that he was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison in 1998 after pleading guilty to embezzling from a South Dakota college.

An indictment unsealed on Friday said Fourcloud submitted false expense claims and reports and fake documents, mostly for travel and moving expenses.

A lawyer who represented him in the past declined to comment on the latest charges.
