More Than 3,500 Without Power in Maine

MACHIAS, Maine (AP) _ More than 3,500 customers are without electricity in Maine following powerful storms that lashed the region over the weekend.

Maine utility Emera Maine said Monday that nearly 3,000 of the outages are in Washington County. Almost all of the rest are in Aroostook and Hancock counties.

The utility warns that thunderstorms in the forecast could set back restoration efforts. A spokesman said Aroostook would hopefully be back on line Monday, but Hancock and Washington will likely have to wait until Tuesday.

Customers can report outages by calling 207-973-2020 or 855-363-7211.
