LEWISTON, Maine (AP) _ Maine's state fire marshal and members of the American Red Cross are heading to Lewiston to teach residents about fire safety.
The Red Cross says that Fire Marshal Joe Thomas and Red Cross teams will visit the mobile park homes Brookside Trailer Court and Pleasant Street Trailer Park on Saturday to discuss the need for working smoke alarms and emergency escape plans.
The Red Cross will install a smoke alarm for free at homes that don't already have one. The organization says that a working smoke alarm can increase someone's chances of surviving a fire by almost 50 percent.
The group is trying to cut fire deaths and injuries across the country by 25 percent.
