Parkview Hospital to Merge with Mid Coast Health Services

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and announced plans to merge with its local competitor, Mid Coast Health Services.

Bob Cundiff, chairman of Parkview's board, said Tuesday that Parkview reached a point where it can no longer serve as a stand-alone hospital. He says the new approach will ensure that the health care needs of local residents are met.

Parkview's emergency medical clinic will close Thursday as the Mid Coast-Parkview Health System consolidates inpatient and emergency services on the Mid Coast campus at Cook's Corner in Brunswick.

The Parkview campus will be used for physician practices and walk-in clinic in addition to other services including radiology, surgery, oncology and physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
