Pests to Feature at Ag Tradeshow

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ The Maine Association of Conservation Districts Employees Committee will seek to educate agriculture workers about how to identify invasive forest pests at the state's upcoming Agricultural Trades Show.

The trades show takes place in Augusta from Jan. 12 to 14. The move is part of a broader effort by the association of conservation districts to fight the spread of invasive forest pests. The effort will also focus on invasive terrestrial plant species.

The state Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry will also host a ``bugwatch booth'' at the trade show. State entomologists are focusing on species including the emerald ash borer, Asian longhorned beetle and spruce budworm.
