Colby College has received a $2.5 million gift from alumnus Steve Ford and his wife, Mary, to provide financial aid for students from Maine.
Colby Vice President for College Advancement Dan Lugo says currently, about 10 percent of students are from the state.
“Because of this gift, we’ll continue to be able to recruit actively in the state of Maine,” he says. “This year we have 53 Mainers that will graduate with the class of 2018. This is something that the college has a long-standing commitment.”
Annual tuition at Colby is just under $70,000.
