Pingree and Michaud Vote Against Considering Spending Bill

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and Congressman Mike Michaud, both Democrats, voted against the massive $1 trillion spending bill to fund the federal government through next October.

Both object to non-spending legislation added to the bill.

While the vote was procedural, passing 214 to 212, the close vote led House Republican leaders to postpone a final vote on the spending legislation.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins hopes the House will pass a short-term spending bill to keep government funded for a couple of days to allow both the House and Senate to complete action on the budget.

Without that short term measure, funding for the federal government ends at midnight.
