AUGUSTA, Maine - A group of prominent Maine Democrats is backing presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
The Portland Press Herald reportsthat four sitting state senators and 30 representatives, including House Majority Leader Rep. Jeff McCabe, announced their support on Tuesday. They call themselves the "Working Class Cabinet.''
Other supporters include Secretary of State Matt Dunlap former Portland Mayor Michael Brennan and former House Speaker John Richardson, lobbyist Severin Beliveau and eight county chairs of the Maine Democratic Party.
Hillary Clinton announced her slate of Maine backers in October. Her supporters include former Gov. John Baldacci and U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree.
The Maine Democratic Party will hold municipal caucuses March 6 and 7.
