A report from the Commonwealth Fund and George Washington University finds that the GOP House proposal to replace the Affordable Care Act could cause a loss of 10-thousand jobs in Maine over the next decade, and gross state product could decline by a billion dollars.
The report says that the replacement bill would initially spur economic growth because of tax cuts, but that would soon be overshadowed by cuts to Medicaid and health subsidies.
Republican senators are currently crafting a replacement bill that is expected to be similar to the bill that passed the House last month.
